Well, no it’s not but I made you click! So, I have several readers (not like thousands or anywhere close to that) that are somewhat new to SEO and to this notion of building links to a site in an effort to achieve higher rankings in the search engines. Now, regardless of what some of the prominent SEO firms say, it’s really not that hard to do.
From my experience of working mostly as an in-house SEO and several consulting gigs throughout the years, targeted links should be the primary focus. In other words, you will get more bang for your buck if you can gain inbound links from content relevant sites. Now, I am not going to bore you like every other SEO blog with all the ways you can get links (i.e. DMOZ, article syndication etc.). In the past, I have written that search engine optimization is not rocket science and that anyone can learn the key fundamentals of on/off page optimization. In this case, it would be wise to create some type of governance model to help with conflicts such as this. Of [...]
A good friend of mine who I work with, and who also authors an SEO blog emailed me the other day to say that we made some “Top In-House SEO List” that the guys over at the Natural Search Blog put together. The article is very impressive and talks about the advantages of working in house; and goes into the standardization of titles, compensation levels, etc. within big organizations. I must say that I was flattered that I made this list; but it’s probably due to the company that I work for. Nonetheless, the amusing thing about is that I have already been approached by three SEO firms cuddling up to me…hmmm…wonder why? One firm (and I won’t mention their name because I never heard of them before) even went as far as complimenting my blog in hopes to start building a relationship with me. It’s quite entertaining.
