Next Tweetup: A call for sponsors

Greetings from Hawaii! My wife (@kbritopian) and I are celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary on the beautiful island of Maui. We have been here since August 1st and we are flying to Arizona to pick up the little ones later this evening and then back home to Santa Clara on Monday.

I am running a little behind with the planning of the next Tweetup; so I am sipping on my 2nd Iced Venti Americano w/extra ice and plugging away on things that need to get done. First order of business – sponsors.

I need a few companies to step up and sponsor this event. $500 to $1,000 is all I am asking for and that will cover drinks and food. We all know that an open bar with a little grub attracts more people. In return, here is what I am offering to the sponsors.

  1. Tables for you to showcase your products or conduct live demos online. There will be Wi-Fi available and you can pretty much bring anything you want (t-shirts, pens, flyers), you name it. You can also encourage peeps to tweet about your product/service in return for a giveaway. I’ll be doing it.
  2. Banner placement on Silicon Valley Tweetup site (leaderboard on the top). We are also adding small 125×125 banner units to the right side of the site, under the Google Community
  3. Frequent tweets about your company and it sponsoring the event.
  4. I will write a blog post on this site and Silicon Valley Tweetup thanking the sponsors.

The last Tweetup (pics here/video here) we had 81 people sign in and I am sure there was a dozen or so that forgot. The attendees are all very active on Twitter; some were entrepreneurs, some from start ups (Aha Mobile, Notebooks.com and My6Sense) and also fortune 500 companies like Cisco, Sony, HP, Intel to name a few. We expect to have many of the same people at the event and hopefully some new faces will also consider joining us. We are expecting 100+ people this time.

Also, we will be selling Silicon Valley Tweetup shirts (not sure how much yet) and will be giving all profits to the Anissa Lopez Foundation. A big thank you to Rush and Matt Dufner from Design 2 Print who will be sponsoring the “designing and printing” of the t-shirts.

The date of the next Tweetup is Thursday 8/27 at Hotel Valencia (the Cielo Lounge) from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. There will even be a DJ spinning some beats in the background. Here are some pictures of the Cielo Lounge.
