Behind the scenes at the Elite Retreat 2009

I met ShoeMoney last summer in Orlando during an Izea Board Meeting; and since then we have worked together on a few minor projects for Intel.  He called me a few weeks ago and asked me if I wanted to present at the Elite Retreat in San Francisco.  I am sure he only called me because I was local to the 415 … haha.

Nonetheless, I had a really great time and met some really cool peoples. It was great to see a room full of young entrepreneurs learning from the best of the best.  I met Chris Winfield and DK or the first time; and also caught up with my boys from Unique Blog Designs, Neil Patel (and he’s not THAT BIG OF A DEAL with his PR7 blog), Stephan Spencer and a few others.  And, it was also great to see Shoe coaching the attendees.

My presentation – which I will be posting sometime this week – highlighted Intel’s approach to social media; and cited examples of the alignment we have with the Forrester’s social media objectives: listening, talking, energizing, supporting and embracing the community. I tried to be as relevant as possible but it was tough because most were entrepreneurs and didn’t work in the enterprise side of the house.  Hopefully, someone absorbed a nugget of info that they can use as they build their business.

Here is some video footage from the conference:

  • Hey Michael,

Long time no see. So are you posting that PPT anytime soon? I'm fairly curious about how a large company like Intel does something so fast moving. It seems you guys are doing it awesomely well, but would love to see your deck.

By the way, my agency, e-Storm, is doing a project with SMC now. So, I'm sure I'll see you around at the next SMC event or some other way.

    Cheers,

    Daniel
