What Search Engine Ranking software do you use?

May 5, 2007 Michael Brito

Let’s face it, in today’s instant gratifying world, life is much easier when things are automated! Back in the good ole’ days, I used to check search engine rankings using an excel spreadsheet and dedicated about 2 - 3 hours a week searching each keyword in each engine (ugh). Then life got easier when search software began to hit the market. I have tried several software packages (Trend MX, Web CEO, SEO Administrator and Axandra, etc.) and for the most part they were all similar in price and features. However, I had the SAME issue with each one; and that is, the ranking reports were never-ever-ever-ever accurate. And then I found myself having to re-check the reports again. It was like living life without a microwave again.

And then came Advanced Web Ranking (and no, this isn’t a sponsored post). Every time I run my ranking reports, they are as accurate as can be. Now, the interface and navigation took some time to get used to but once I overcame that, life was much much better; and now my carpals tunnel is finally going away. Here is a good resource that reviews all the search engine ranking software in market today.

Hi Michael, I like the new design!

This is an interesting topic as I have a post in the works for Monday titled, "Search Engine Rankings Are Dead". With personalized search and other factors, rankings on standard search engines are no longer an accurate proxy for measuring the effect of SEO efforts.

Cheers!

Lee,

It may not be the only proxy anymore, but it is still a proxy. The search rankings is really the only tangible deliverable that shows the progress of an SEO campaign, especialy if it's for a client. I would also add that social media metrics are good for those companies that have actually adopted a social media strategy; and we are far from critical mass.

Do search engine optimizers work? Have been using Traffic Blazer for a while and it does not seem to make a difference. Is there a better strategy?

Martin - it depends what your goals are. Which search engine optimizer are you actualy referring to?

Now that it has been a year since you commented about Advanced Web Rankings, what do you think of it? What about in comparison to Web Position Pro?
